Whether you’re an experienced coach, new to the field, or just pondering the possibilities, you’ll be encouraged and challenged by today’s interview with Todd Kemp. Although Todd is a Master's Certified Coach, his coaching career didn’t begin until an unexpected layoff led to a crisis in his career and life.

Tune in to hear how becoming a coach impacted Todd’s faith and character formation, the up and down path of entrepreneurship, and the true joy of pursuing what was most meaningful to him

About Todd Kemp:

Todd coaches leaders and teams who need to adapt to new realities, reimagine how they create value, and grow their leadership capacities – so that they, their noble missions, and families can flourish. He also serves as a coach for a Convene peer advisory group of Christian CEOs and business owners in the Denver, Colorado area. He helps these leaders to integrate their faith and leadership to build healthy companies and cultures that love well, do good work, and honor God while earning a fair profit for a purpose. Todd has earned his Master Certified Coach credential from the ICF, a Certified Professional Leadership Coach designation from PCCI, and a Team Coaching certification. He also holds an MA degree in Positive Psychology and Coaching. He and his bride live outside of Denver where they are open-nesters with two young adult children, and enjoy hiking, skiing, and building into people who want to create meaningful change in their lives.

We're wrapping up another exciting season and eager to answer your questions! As always, we've selected 4 questions we've received via social media, email, and phone. Let's dive right in!

1) The economy is tight, with no strong indicators of improving soon. How should I be thinking about this as a business owner, in the face of that?

2) In these changing times there are so many conflicting messages about how to market my coaching business. How do I know what will be really worth my time and effort?

3) I saw on social media that you are Pa Ingles in the musical Little House on the Prairie, along with several members of your family... How in the world do you find the time to do something like that? You must be incredibly busy... how do you work in starring in a musical?

4) I was planning to do some public speaking to grow my coaching business but it's hard to find groups meeting in person. Should I just host a webinar?

Life rarely unfolds in a linear fashion, and choosing a niche is no exception. The path to clarity often comes as a result of listening to God, obediently taking the steps He lays out, learning from each step, and then beginning again. In this episode, Kim Avery transparently shares about the huge transition she is making in her business journey, and some of the lessons she is learning along the way.

Tune in for insights on:

  • How to know and understand the needs of the marketplace

  • Ways to identify and move through any internal resistance

  • Practical considerations when making key niching decisions

About Kim Avery

The start of Kim's entrepreneurial journey was anything but smooth. While the client work went amazingly well, unfortunately, the business-building did not. In her first year as an entrepreneur, she wasted hundreds of hours and burned through thousands of dollars, yet saw only mediocre results.

There had to be a better way. So, she pored through Scripture searching for God's principles and provision for today's busy entrepreneurs. What she discovered was a treasure trove of specific, actionable promises and an ongoing opportunity to fully partner with our all-loving, all-powerful, and all-knowing CEO, almighty God.

She has now turned those discoveries into a best-selling book, The Prayer Powered Entrepreneur: 31 Days to Building Your Business with Less Stress and More Joy.

It’s now her joy to help others build (or rebuild) their lives and businesses in a completely different way: God-shaped, grace-infused, actively walking in God’s good and perfect provision for them.

Without exception, there’s one common denominator at the core of every single coaching session you hold. It’s the most essential part of that coaching session, and it’s something you have complete control over. What is it? It’s you! Your use of self, your awareness of yourself, and your self-management as a child of God, a person, and a coach.

In this episode, we dive into a deep exploration of who you are, how you show up as a coach, and how you differentiate yourself from your client in a way that’s beneficial to you and to them.

Tune in to hear:

  • How to maintain a sense of autonomy instead of reactivity

  • The beautiful ways that coaching is a reflection of our Trinitarian God

  • Using the competencies as a tool for spiritual love

About Steve Cromer:

Steve has been most blessed by his marriage to Geneva for over 42 years. She has encouraged his love of learning and exploration in the fields of archaeology, chaplaincy, Bowen Family Systems Theory, pastoral ministry, coaching and teaching, and, most recently, owning and operating a restaurant! Together they reared four sons, and now celebrate having three wonderful daughters-in-law – with a fourth one on the way – and seven grandchildren. They have recently relocated to Williamsburg, VA, where they will continue their explorations together.

Steve joined the PCCI family as a student in 2012 and as an instructor in 2017. Through his business, Steve Cromer Coaching, Steve works as a mentor coach for those seeking certification, as a leadership coach for those wanting to improve their soft skills in the workplace, and as a life coach for leaders who struggle in the over-functioning, “go-to” position in the workplace and in the family.

About Cheryl Scanlan

Cheryl Scanlan, MCC, CMCC is a former executive with a multi-million dollar firm in New York who loves the Lord.

In 2003, Tom, her husband and best friend of 35+ years, suggested coaching as a possible ministry for Cheryl. She followed his advice. In 2004, Cheryl began coaching even as she battled one of the worse cases of Lyme Disease on record at the time. Her work began in her local church of 4,000, where she had previously held numerous positions, such as Women’s Minister and Care Director.

Cheryl is primarily a business and executive coach with over 12,000 hours of coaching experience. She has worked with thousands of C-Levels and business owners within C3Advantage to develop high-performance organizations, foster executive health, and prepare organizations for critical transitions.

Currently, Cheryl serves as Provost of PCCI (Professional Christian Coaching Institute), and has partnered with Chris McCluskey for ten years and oversees the instructors, mentor coaching, and the CPLC certification process, and curriculum management.

As discussed in the podcast, Cheryl’s core passion is to see God’s people walk in step with Him. Within her nonprofit, Promised Land Living, Cheryl and her team equip certified coach presenters with tools to guide participants through a curriculum as they learn to walk in step with the Lord. Through a group and individual coaching method, Promised Land Living helps participants move into God’s best for their life.
